Our Director
Matthew Epperson
Mr. Epperson has been the Highlander Strings Orchestra Director since 2021. Mr. Epperson holds a Master of Music from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas.
Along with being an experienced teacher, Mr. Epperson also has a wide range of performance experience. As an accomplished cellist, he has played with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Irving as well as with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra. He has also appeared with popular artists such as Josh Groban, The Eagles, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Disturbed among many others.
When not in school, Mr. Epperson is very passionate about learning exciting new repertoire on the cello and staying musically inspired to teach others. He also enjoys running, logging road bike miles with friends, creating his next grilling masterpiece, and spending quality time with his wife Amy and his son Charles. The family is not complete, however, without the mention of his two wonderfully energetic rescue dogs, Teddy and Nora.
